Euphoria. Because it all makes sense now. Every bad decision I’ve made has become a good one. Each mistake, a success. The relationships were not meant to be. All the jobs I weathered my way through were necessary for experience. Everything happened so I could reach this dream career.
In psychology, this concept is called pronoia. The often-delusional state of mind resulting in the belief that everyone in the world is out to help you (read: the opposite of paranoia). Certainly not a theory I’ve subscribed much to these past couple…decades. Then again, neither did the lead character in Paulo Coelho’s celebrated novel The Alchemist. A frequently recited quote from the story as the protagonist makes his way along what would become a quest to find himself is, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” So, thank you all for being my conspirators. We made it.
Family member, friend, coworker, coach, lover, mentor, boss, acquaintance, teacher, curious onlooker: From my perspective, each of you has found yourself in one or more of these categories. Some of you know everything about me. Others may soon find out you hardly knew anything at all. Beginning January of 2023, this blog is where I will attempt to connect the dots. I’ll keep a running commentary of my travels across the globe but I will also mix in all the important experiences that got me to where I am now.
